Department of Social Welfare
Introduction
Social welfare is a comprehensive area of study, which provides professional support for the individual, groups and the wider community, in order to solve the various issues that plague modern society as a consequence of industrialization.
The Department of Social Welfare at Keimyung University aims to prepare students as distinguished professional leaders with interest, affection and passion.
Our program focuses on a theoretical and practical education, through close collaboration with community social welfare agencies.
The curriculum is designed to strengthen students' capabilities and confidence, and help them immediately apply their skills and knowledges in volunteering field work.
History
In consideration of our contemporary situation, with serious social issues, economic polarization, and human alienation, social welfare is one of the key areas in the attempt to establish a humanistic welfare state fit for the 21st century.
Currently about 300 students and 8 faculty members are together endeavoring to develop the department of Social Welfare within the college of Social Science.

- 2001 Held the 1st Social Welfare department conference 'Gae-chuck-Je'
- 2003 Establishment of Graduate master's program
- 2004 Held 1st Keimyung Social Welfare Forum
- 2007 Establishment of Ph.D. program
